Happy solstice, folks! We're prepping the figurative full stop on 2011, but before we close up shop for the year we'd like to share some holiday good cheer and point you towards a wonderful project we were lucky enough to participate in this month. The 78 Project, created by Alex Steyermark & Lavinia Jones Wright, is the coolest thing this side of waxed mustaches.

Here's how it works: they take a Presto 78 RPM acetate magical music capturing machine, plug in a microphone, place said microphone in front of an artist or two (or three), drop the needle, and four minutes and one take later an acetate record is born. We filmed & recorded our session @ Ye Olde Carlton Arms Hotel in NYC just last week, and we included an impromptu holiday tune as well, which you can watch here, just in time for Santa Claus...

 

It's been an amazing year. Thank you for making this such an amazing year. We have a busy 2012 lined up and much to share, but for now we just want to say thanks, again and again and again. Happy Christmas, happy solstice, happy everything, and lastly but definitely not leastly, have yerselves a very merry new year.
